Zines are the ultimate DIY boredom killers. Sure some people put out zines full of writing on different political issues and such, but the fun is in putting together and photocopying your own cut and paste masterpiece.
One way to throw together a quick zine is to collect a bunch of magazines, books, newspapers, drawings or pictures you don't need or are willing to use and put together creative templates or collages. Then throw in some content like poetry, rants, essays, quotes, jokes, reviews, lists of ways to have fun for free (or cheap), or just witty phrases to go along with the pictures.
When you're happy with what you have, make some copies of your zine and put them all together. Then you can either give them to your friends and random people, or sell them (for cheap!) online or at a zine fair.
